Conference Logo
Geese over the Yukon

Vernon Asp, an accomplished Tahltan carver and designer, designed the logo
being used by the Conference Committee. The inspiration for the design was a
collaboration between Vernon and Ian Oostindie. Feedback from the co-chairs
Eleanor O’Donovan and Madeleine Lanctôt and several members of the
Conference Committee helped finalize the direction of the work. Mike Kelly
of PCSS oversaw the conversion from the original ink-on-paper artwork to
digital. We are pleased to have Vernon’s artwork as a part of our
conference.
The design is inspired by both the social nature of geese and their
independence, much like the work of educators. As we know, geese spend much
of their time working independently or in small family groups yet come
together with purpose to make great migrations. It is the conference
committee’s hope that our membership and those attending our conference will
find issues worth pursuing together and will travel far in their own
professional development.
The design has been licensed to the YTA conference committee for its own
unlimited non-profit use in all conference activities. The design can be
used for many years to come and can be distinguished each time only by a
change in conference theme and year.
